Learning assignment #3
Our company is about to go have a pop-up tent, where we host a drawing contest for kids, give out air balloons and offer face paint. At the side of it, we obviously want to promote our services, and be available and gain visibility in the community that we target our marketing to. The pop-up tent is a part of a larger summer event that is held in a market place for one day from 11:00 to 17:00.
Our main aim is to share a positive image of company. We want to be a reliable, warm and friendly partner, when someone you care about is in need of some support at home - so that they can sustain a safe and enjoyable lifestyle as long as possible.
We will gain visibility and recognition among the people who come to our tent. We give out air balloons, so that during the event that we participate in, kids will take our name and company color all around. On top of that, we want to share our positive vibe and reach a larger audience with social media.
During the pop-up day I will have a camera with me, so that we can
use that as a material for marketing in different medias.
Photos and videos can be taken and published in a public space. However, if I particularly want to take photos of someone's face and use it for marketing, I will ask for their consent.
For the drawing contest - we will make sure that everyone who want to participate understand what they are participating in. They will write their contact details behind the drawing, and submit them to me personally. I will store the paintings and contact details in a folder, so that the contact details are not shared with any outsiders.
IMPORTANCE OF PLANNING SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT AHEAD
A lot of social media content may be released to the public without much tought. In some ways, it's the beauty and purpose of social media - ability to share life without effortlessly. It has the downside of possibly regretting the content you have posted either in text, photo or video form.
Being aware of releasing content and acknowledging it's permanency on the internet is important for everyone, but there is a next level to the responsibility of creating content for a company. The content I will release, speaks for the whole company I work for. I am alone responsible, that the content is proper, professional, easily approachable and speaks for our company's values. The decisions that are made on the spot, and any material released is something that I have to 100% stand behind. This is why it is important to plan ahead, mind the details and be responsible.
Another reason why it is important to plan ahead, is the quality of our company's social media content. We do not want to seem like we are all over the place, release anything and everything, and there is no core purpose or a leading factor to our posts. Planning ahead helps in being organized and structured, but also to be able to improvise and be spontaneous on the spot, when the main focus is clear.
Notes to self:
BEFORE THE EVENT
- Let the audience know what's happening. What are we offering on our stand; why, where and when.
DURING THE EVENT
- Gather material. Listen to what people say, write notes. Take pictures. Post only on IG stories to let audience know where we are and share the mood online for people who cannot be present live.
AFTER THE EVENT
- Go through the material - pick out pictures and quotes you want to use. Edit photos. Write a blog post about what happened. Add pictures. Share that blog post on Instagram and Facebook, and on top of that share some individual pictures at least on Instagram. Separate pictures that can be used in marketing in a different context - make sure to not use the same pictures on a blog post which you will use later on in marketing.
This kind of a structure can be used for any events - although for some larger and more thoroughly planned events (like larger fairs) the marketing before the event should be bigger and better. Privacy and security issues and risks should be minded separately for any event.
